Sherman County Warrant RecordsSherman County Warrant Records

Start with the city court printed on your ticket, because that office answers the warrant question directly. Sherman County has two municipal courts, Stratford and Texhoma, and each keeps its own files apart from the countywide Justice of the Peace and the combined County/District Clerk. A Sherman County municipal warrant may never show up on the Sheriff's page, since the county publishes no warrant roster at all. Keep your citation number handy when you call. One caution on Texhoma: the city's online tool handles citations from a single Texas court, not a countywide search and not an Oklahoma case, so confirm with the court before you pay anything.

Sherman County Municipal Court Warrants

A municipal court in Sherman County hears city ordinance violations and Class C state-law matters inside its own city limits. Miss a court date or leave a judgment unpaid, and the judge can issue a failure-to-appear, an arrest warrant, or a capias pro fine. Each city case stands apart from county-level business. So a JP or district case search may come back clean while a municipal warrant is still open. Sherman County contains two incorporated Texas cities with municipal courts: Stratford and Texhoma. Neither the Sheriff's page nor the city pages publish a complete countywide warrant database. Begin with the court named on your citation and ask exactly what that office controls.

Sherman County Cities With Municipal Courts

Stratford and Texhoma each run a municipal court, but the two cities share information differently. Stratford's listing comes from the Texas Judicial Branch directory, and the city posts no online warrant search or payment form of its own. Texhoma offers a vendor payment page for Texas citations, with its own field and full-payment rules. The Oklahoma city of the same name sits outside Sherman County.

Unincorporated Sherman County JP matters belong with the countywide Justice of the Peace, not with either city court.

Sherman County City Courts Have Separate Routes

Every local route in Sherman County answers a different question. A Texhoma payment screen will not search Stratford. A call to the Sheriff will not pull a city clerk's case record. A County/District Clerk search is not a municipal docket, and the state court directory, while handy for finding an office, is no warrant database. Each tool has its own job. When a citation names a court but gives no current contact, the OCA directory search fills the gap. The Texas Judicial Branch lets you search its live directory by court type, county, court name, or city. The live directory form displays the court-location filters a person uses to locate a municipal court in Sherman County.

Once the court is identified, call it to verify the case and warrant status.

Checking a Municipal Court Warrant

Go to the city court first. That judge controls the citation, any FTA, the balance, and the steps to recall a warrant. The Sherman County Sheriff and Jail at 806-366-5551 remains the fallback for service and custody questions, though the office publishes no municipal warrant list. If the clerk cannot confirm a record by phone, expect to submit a written request.

  1. Read the state, city, court name, citation number, and due date.
  2. Call the municipal court and ask whether it remains a citation or has become a warrant or capias.
  3. Ask the exact balance, whether an appearance is required, and which payment methods are allowed.
  4. If custody or surrender is involved, call the Sheriff/Jail for local instructions.
  5. After acting, ask the court to confirm recall and when its record will update.

Stratford Municipal Court Has No Published Warrant Form

The OCA directory lists Stratford Municipal Court at P.O. Box 143, Stratford, TX 79084-0143, phone 806-366-3062. The city publishes no warrant search, no online payment link, no bond schedule, no recall form, and no warrant-specific walk-in hours on its official pages. Call with the citation number, your full name, date of birth, and the due date. Ask what the case actually is: a plain citation, an FTA, an arrest warrant, or a capias pro fine. Ask whether a reset or an attorney appearance is possible, and what step removes the warrant. Do not assume the County/District Clerk holds a Stratford city file. Stratford Police at 806-366-3051 posts a general tip form, not a warrant lookup, and dispatch is 806-366-5551.

Inside a Municipal Court Warrant

A court record may list the case and the court's action. No local source provides a sample municipal warrant listing or a status-code key, so ask the clerk what an "active," "served," or "returned" label means. Sherman County publishes no municipal warrant-number format or bond amount.

Texhoma's Portal Is a Citation Payment Tool

The Texhoma Texas payment page states plainly that it takes citations payable to Texhoma, Texas Municipal Court only. You enter first and last name, driver's-license number and state, ticket number, and payment amount. A six-digit passcode then goes to your mobile number or email, plus an image-code check. The warnings matter. Partial payments need court approval, course and deferred-disposition fees need permission and paperwork, and warrants must be paid in full. Call 806-827-7411 to confirm the amount before you pay. A payment to the wrong court may be rejected, and its fee may not come back. The page shows no active warrant status and no public roster, so a clean screen proves nothing. The Texas municipal-court directory also lists Texhoma at P.O. Box 10123 with the same phone, and its prefix notice separates Texas 002 and older 001 tickets from Oklahoma 014/013 citations.

Oklahoma Texhoma Is a Different Court

The Texas side of Texhoma sits in Sherman County. The Oklahoma Texhoma across the line is a separate jurisdiction with its own court. The Texas payment portal itself says tickets carrying the Oklahoma prefixes 014 or 013 do not belong in its flow. If your citation's state is unclear, never guess from the shared city name. Call the court printed on the ticket before you send money or personal details.

Check the state first: A Texas 002 or older 001 citation and an Oklahoma 014 or 013 citation follow different court routes.

This border split is the biggest caution in Sherman County Texhoma records. Even a correct ticket number sent to the wrong jurisdiction cannot clear the case.

Municipal Warrants and the County Sheriff

A city court issues a warrant for its own case. Stratford police or another peace officer may serve it. What the local pages never state is whether every municipal warrant reaches a Sherman County Sheriff list, and since the Sheriff posts no public roster, that question stays open. For status, call the issuing court. The Sheriff handles local service and custody questions. OmniBase adds its own wrinkle: it can reflect an FTA/FTP compliance report from participating courts, yet its FAQ says plainly that it carries no warrant information. DPS license specialists say the same thing in practice, pointing callers back to the reporting court. A license hold, in short, is not a municipal warrant lookup. The countywide Sherman County Sheriff contact lists the local jail phone and address, and the traffic warrant page lays out Texhoma payment and confirmation rules.

Resolving a Municipal Court Warrant

No single Sherman County office handles both cities' warrants, so each municipal court sets its own path forward. Call the issuing court first. Ask what it accepts: a fine, a reset date, a payment plan, a motion from an attorney, an appearance in person, or a bond. Also ask whether paying alone recalls the warrant, because sometimes it does not. Neither city publishes a shared fee schedule or clearing window.

  1. Confirm which municipal court and citation number control the matter.
  2. Ask for the exact balance and whether the case requires a hearing.
  3. Use only the court-approved payment or appearance route.
  4. Keep the receipt or court order and request confirmation of recall.
  5. Call the Sheriff separately if service or surrender was discussed.

Warning: A vendor receipt does not prove that the court recalled a warrant. Ask the issuing court when its status changed and what remains on the case.

Public Access to Sherman County Municipal Warrants

Records access runs through two laws. Municipal case records come from the issuing court under Texas Rule of Judicial Administration 12, while law-enforcement records go to the relevant public body under the Texas Public Information Act, subject to exceptions. Article 15.26 covers public access to executed adult arrest warrants and their supporting affidavits. One category stays closed: juvenile warrant material under Family Code §58.010 is confidential.

Access rules

Texas OCA Rule 12 policy explains judicial-record requests through the court.

Article 15.26 addresses executed adult arrest-warrant information.

Family Code §58.010 limits access to a child's warrant material.

Sherman County posts no online list of every municipal warrant. When you need a document, ask the court directly for a releasable or redacted record.
